There are sensuous pleasures that can only be tasted in the night He comes to her in the twilight between sleep and consciousness to fulfill her secret. PDF - Pleasures of the Night. In the Twilight between sleep and consciousness, a battle rages between Dream Guardians and Nightmares. Captain Aidan Cross. Pleasures of the Night (Dream Guardians #1) There are sensuous pleasures that can only be tasted in the night He comes to her in the twilight between.
Previous page. That's not to say it was bad, it just wasn't for me. I gotta say though, I quite enjoyed it and plan to buy the next book in the series. Leigh Thomas. No trivia or quizzes yet.
Making love with a Dream Guardian seems real to the Host even though everything occurs only in a subconscious state. Normally Dreamers do not see the actual Dream Guardians from their dreams Dreamers see who they want to see Aidan Cross is a Dream Guardian.
He is centuries old. He's a protector to Dreamers who have nightmares as he knows nightmares are much, much more than what they seem to a dreamer. Dreamers, or Hosts, who suffer from nightmares can be afraid to sleep Dream Guardians to the rescue. But Aidan is beginning to question his purpose. He's beginning to wonder if there is no end to what he does He's wondering if there is, in fact, no "Key" If such a "Key" were real, The Elders want it eliminated as it would be detrimental to the Dream Guardians existence.
I loved Aidan's character in all his Warrior massiveness. He only trusts things that can be proven.
He's tired of wine, women and kicking nightmare butt. He wants answers to his eternal existence.
I loved that he's a Warrior but he's also tender and caring. And nobody really "knew" him for himself before Lyssa Bates. Aidan could be himself with her and not a phantasm of someone else's dream. But he's horrified when he discovers she can see him and not some fantasy of her mind. She can SEE him! Lyssa Bates is tired She cannot get adequate rest. She has chronic fatigue. She's a Veterinarian who has a genuine love for wounded souls She's wise and she's strong of character.
And she is the "Key" that Aidan Cross has been seeking. Hence the dilemma Even though I loved the two main characters of this story, I didn't particularly care for the storyline in general. That's not to say it was bad, it just wasn't for me.
It was an interesting idea for a story but difficult to keep straight and follow. It's very involved. Day, as always, dedicates strong attention to detail, unfortunately this story needed so much explaining and laying out of foundation that there was little dialogue or simple, fun banter exchanged. The descriptive details consumed the story. If you're in to Sci-Fi romance with a twist Yet another half finished Sylvia day series.
I have started 3 of her series now, and none of them have been completed. She just leaves you dangling. Don't start any of these if you ever want closure.
It is so very frustrating because I Enjoyed her writing, but who wants to read a series f books that leave you with an unfinished cliffhanger? One person found this helpful. Paperback Verified Purchase. I love Sylvia Day's writing. I love her voice and I think she's a really talented writer with great talent at drawing sex scenes to die for.
Pleasures of the Night is my very favorite Avon Red title so far which says a lot given the extraordinarily talented authors in their line. The universe of dreamers, guardians and nightmares Day has created is wonderfully creative and fresh. The interaction between Lyssa and Aidan is, guh, whee! Lyssa is a marvelously drawn heroine, I loved her.
I loved her strength and yay, oh so freaking yay for a heroine who loves sex! She's no shrinking violet and when Aidan needs help, she risks everything to get it to him.
Aidan Cross, sigh. What a hero. Okay, my weakness is admittedly, the dark haired warrior type who's all gruff but adores the heroine. Aidan is that and more.
He's also a dirty talker. When it's done well, I think it's hotter than fire and Day does it well. The backstory about the key, the mystery of what it is, who and what the guardians are and what they might be hiding and the conceptual moving between worlds is done really well here and Day has given readers the beginning of a fresh new paranormal world with the potential to have more stories of some of the very delicious warriors she introduced us to.
