Alien is now known by the title Smallville: Each miniseries features unique chapter numbering. The format of nine-to-twelve chapter main stories interspersed with four-chapter parallel stories also continues.

Moreover, in the printed issues of each main storyline the Season 11 moniker is still used on the title, even though it is not used in the digital issues for example the first digital issue of Alien is inscribed as Smallville: Alien 1 but its first printed issue is inscribed as Smallville Season Alien 1.

Also the printed issue of each parallel storyline continues the previous numbering as it is considered an one-shot and does not have subsequent issues for example the first digital issue of Titans is inscribed as Smallville: Titans 1 or Smallville Special: Titans 1 but its printed issue is inscribed as Smallville Season 11 Special 4.

I enjoyed it and it definitely had a Smallville vibe. I was worried it would be just another Superman story. It has it's flaws and I wouldn't classify it as a strong start, but they planted some seeds that interested me. I look forward to volume II. Jul 02, K. Townsend rated it really liked it. Excellent continuation of the series! I loved how the voices matched the Smallville characters and the plot was solid.

Nice blend of comic book lore, past incarnations of different characters from different media, all while staying true to the Smallville universe.

Apr 29, thea rated it liked it. Off to a great start! It's quite hard to picture the actors from the show in comic book form from time to time.

I do like the idea that this takes place in the seven year gap that we saw the finale and I'm so glad we get to see more of evil Lex Luthor back from the dead, I mean, who doesn't???? Jun 16, Jemma added it Shelves: An absolute gem of a comic!

It follows on perfectly from the show in a way I couldn't have even imagined. It flows beautifully and the witter banter is present as always and in no way diminished by its move to comic form. I highly recommend this!

I was a huge HUGE fan of Smallville, so back when these first came out I started reading them immediately and gave up after one issue. Mainly because I didn't like the art and getting them online made them hard to read. Now that I can read them in a graphic novel I'm pleased to report that the art has grown on me. It's possible that I've just lowered my standards over the past 7 years???!!! But I enjoyed this a lot!

Great to see what these characters that I used to love so much got up to af I was a huge HUGE fan of Smallville, so back when these first came out I started reading them immediately and gave up after one issue.

Great to see what these characters that I used to love so much got up to after the show ended. Also great that the story is able to go in an interesting direction now that there is no budget.

When Smallville was on the air, one of the things that made it so irritating to watch sometimes was that it had a revolving door of writers for every season. Every episode was written by a different writer with even the most prolific writers making only eps per season. This meant that there were often situations where a storyline would be dropped from one ep to the next because they were written by different people, usually at the same time.

Like I said, it was very annoying. The comic series having only one writer with a definite arc in mind makes it a lot more cohesive and entertaining. Bryan Q. Miller was one of my fav writers on the show because he actually seemed to A lot of the writers didn't seem to. He always seemed to know what was going on on the show outside of his episodes which was literally all you could ask for from a writer of that show.

Feb 11, Sean rated it liked it Recommends it for: Superman fans! Smallville now continues in comic form!!!! These type of stories are hit or miss when they follow stories that sometimes weren't meant to continue.

Here, there is a small element in that. Smallville's TV writers knew that the show was ending so the finale did that. Story ideas probably wouldn't have happened the way they did not for that. That scenario makes this task harder than a normal assignment for a writer. All that being said, Miller does well with that assignment.

The characters read lik Smallville now continues in comic form!!!! The characters read like their TV counterparts which is a big accomplishment.

The series features a unique publishing model, split between traditional print publication and digital release online and through mobile apps. During the fourth week, the three chapters are collected in a print issue released on the industry standard Wednesday new comic day.

On January 4, , the series moved to a weekly release schedule without breaks. Following the parallel story week, the primary cycle would begin again. This scheduling has since been modified. It was announced on September 6, , that the Season 11 title will end, but that the continuity of the series would continue through various miniseries.
